Old Wood Energy Park
Learn moreProject overview
We would like to introduce our new project, Old Wood Energy Park.
It comprises of a ground mounted solar photovoltaics (PV) array with co-located battery storage connected into an existing overhead line that delivers electricity to the area.
The solar farm comprises of two parcels of land to the west of the village of Wysall, Nottinghamshire. The first is located on land west of Lodge Farm, south of Old Wood and the second slightly further south around Rough Plantation and north of Wysall Road.
The battery energy storage system (BESS) and point of connection infrastructure is located in the southern land parcel, one field up from the road to benefit from existing screening, with the connection into the pylon in the southern most field.
To make this project work for all, we are seeking your views on this proposal ahead of submitting a formal planning application to Rushcliffe Borough Council.

- Mark has spent 20 years in land development and has extensive experience of identifying, designing, consenting and delivering successful land development projects, including wind, solar, energy storage and thermal. He previously worked at Banks Renewables for 18 years holding various roles in development, technical design and construction project management across multiple asset classes. He holds a HNC Electrical & Electronic Engineering, BA (Hons), Industrial Design from Teesside University.
- Edward has worked in the energy sector since 2008 with project assets including waste to energy, gas peakers, solar and storage. Throughout his career, Edward has sourced and managed a pipeline of several hundred megawatts focusing on capacity market contracts and more recently subsidy free solar developments. He joined the team in September 2021 and will be working alongside clients throughout the development process, managing sites from inception to completion.
- Hugo is a Project Development Coordinator, working as part of the Exagen team to deliver utility scale renewable energy projects. He entered the renewables space after completing his BEng in Civil Engineering at the University of Exeter. Hugo is hugely motivated to help the UK achieve its net zero carbon goal.
- Andrew has 17 years planning and environmental assessment experience, nearly 12 of which have been in renewable energy consenting at Arcus. Managing more than 130 planning applications for almost 5 GW of solar, wind, battery storage, grid management and gas peaking projects combined, Andrew works closely with key stakeholders during the planning process to manage risks and deliver a high project consent rate. He holds a MSc in EIA, Environmental Auditing and Management Systems and is an IEMA Registered EIA Practitioner.
